AMIRI unveils new Soho space. West coast meets east – AMIRI’s New York City flagship in SoHo merges the Los Angeles roots of the brand with the distinct character of Manhattan, a design that speaks to two cultural epicenters of the United States. Moving just across Greene Street from its original location opened in 2021 – AMIRI’s new 5,254 square foot space has been envisaged by founder and creative director Mike Amiri. The store is recalibrated, drawing inspiration from open-plan California homes and the ever-shifting scenography of Hollywood. The space unfolds like scenes from the same script – distinct in mood and emotion yet connected throughout. An interplay of private and public, intimacy and occasion defines the store, where exceptional materials and vintage touches set the backdrop for AMIRI collections for men and women. Colors are desert-hued, sun-soaked and rich – rendered through green and honey onyx, warm woods and specially-commissioned textiles. An Art Deco thread connects Hollywood’s Golden Age with New York’s iconic Jazz era, with tapestries set in custom boiserie in pomelé wood veneer. Sconces and a central chandelier, custom designed and fitted for the space by 6:AM Glassworks, echo old Hollywood movie houses and the grand public spaces of New York alike – a sense of event, the theater of the everyday. Two original works by artist Chidy Wayne sit harmoniously within the space, lending it the sensibility of a personal collection.  The columns of the building’s historic architecture become punctuation, to shift between different scenes – all unified by a floor in juxtaposed wood parquets. Underscoring the notion of home, vintage and custom furnishings are woven throughout the space, blurring the lines between retail and residence – evocative of this as a new AMIRI home.
