The fact that snow was the only one to offer his condolences for Prim says a lot too

snow has never lied to katniss because the last person he lied to that was similar to katnisses mindset clocked his lie immediately

Coin’s only miscalculation was misinterpreting Katniss’ motives/state of mind after her sister’s death. She thought her anger meant she wanted wanton retribution

This is what I love about Snow. Yes he was a bad guy but the thing he is, is a truthful villain. And yes he did terrible things but he still didn’t cross certain lines And above all else he didn’t lie

Emma :
The fact that the ONLY thing snow wanted from Katniss was to never lie has so much more meaning for when you see how Lucy Grey deceived him. All he wanted was trust

snow is a brilliant villain. he never really gets any real repercussions for his actions. he lived a long life. even after he loses he’s calm and confident, like he’s satisfied with what he did. evil

When you watch a ballad of songbirds and snakes this scene has more meaning. It was all just a game to snow, one he realized he was going to stop playing. He figures he might as well make it fun

There is a mutual respect even amongst enemies. It comes with fighting the same person for so long you go get to know them in some way. As Vile as he was Katniss knew him well and that he was truthful

I love snow for the sake he is a fantastically crafted villain. Very very well written. A beautiful but almost obvious misdirect by the author. Gets me every time.
