![Bibi Pak Daman - The shrine of Lady Ruqayyah, the daughter of Imam Ali as, the sister of Hazrat Abbas as, and the wife of Safeer e Imam Hussain as, Hazrat Muslim bin Aqeel. Bibi Pak Daman, which means the “chaste lady”, is the collective name of the six ladies believed to be interred at this mausoleum, though it is also (mistakenly) popularly used to refer to the personage of Ruqayyah bint Ali alone. They were among the women who brought Islam to South Asia, preaching and engaging in missionary activity in the environs of Lahore. It is said that these noble women arrived in Lahore after the tragedy of Karbala and the persecution that followed under the Umayyad rule. According to shrine caretakers, a oppressive king was ruling the region at the time. Upon learning of their presence, he summoned them to his court. Being pious, these women prayed to Allah for protection. Their prayer was accepted, the earth miraculously opened and embraced them. The place where they vanished later became a revered shrine.
