You’re such a good dude. Thank you for raising awareness about how critical home inspections are! We’ve been lucky so far (5yrs later) but I shouldl’ve paid much more attention to the process!

During the road construction in front of my house, I had to have a section of the terracotta sewer line replaced. had they poured the new road, would have been over $20k. Will be $5k-$8k still tho.

always get a sewer scope! a lot of places here (inland NW) will do it free hoping if it needs repairs, you'll go with them. we avoided tens of thousands in impending repairs and construction due to...

if something is an option during a home inspection I'm 100% doing it. even if the inspection comes out to 2 or 3 thousand somehow that's a drop in the bucket when spending hundreds of thousands

This happened to us. They replaced all the plumbing and sewer feeds going out the house about 6-8 feet to the clean out. They did not replace the 104 ft of main line. 😫

Why would they not have the inspection, before, they closed on the house?

100%. our video scope of the septic wasn't required, but found a tipped dist. box and failed drain fields. the home owners replaced the septic, we agreed to take on the roof. $350 was worth it.

We got a sewer scan. There are some tree roots that ok for now. But it was good to know so that we know to get them cleaned out in a couple years

I feel like inspections should become legally accessible once one is performed on a house. That would save a lot of frustration.

Do it!!! Michigan here. In late 1950s or so, they did sewer lines out of Orangeberg, which I swear to God is some kind of paper. I bought a 1958 ranch in 2001. 2 months later, raw sewage thru
