I interpreted it as they knowing who gave them the powers but they are not strong enough to wield the specific patron/god/sorcerer dad powers until level 3

Im running it as you do already know what subclass you will be, but you aren’t powerful enough in it to display patron specific abilities. Cause in theory you are level 3 after 2-3 in game days

you know who your patron is they just give you anything themed until lvl 3

Honestly if I ran DND I’d probably start everyone at level 3 since most classes get there signature abilities at 3

Two ways I’m going to approach this: 1) you know, you just don’t get those powers til level 3; 2) you made a pact for power without regards to who you made a pact with. And you find out more as you go

I wonder if it's you've made a pact but don't get to know the power/source. you just signed where the lawyers told you to. at level 3 you finally get to meet them

It makes perfect sense that warlocks may have no idea who their patron is. Some patrons could stay anonymous for fun, others may have no idea you connected to their power whatsoever.
