The All-American iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has been part of our family Thanksgiving tradition for as long as I can remember, so I’ve had always wanted to go and experience the parade in person. We decided to take a family trip to NYC to see it to kick off the Christmas season and it was such a bucket list experience! Here some our best travel tips: 🗺 Know the parade route. 🏨Book a hotel close to the route thats easy to walk back to (think potty breaks!) ⏰Get there EARLY! (I think we got our spot around 630am & it didn’t start until 9!). If you arrive an hour early you’ll end up being buried 5 feet deep in the crowd, which will affect your view of the performers and floats. 🪑Take chairs- we flew on southwestair and were able to check collapsible camping chairs as each person’s second bag for free. 🧤Pack extra blankets and hand warmers. 🧥Dress in layers 🥨Bring snacks and ☕️hot chocolate (or sit near a @starbucks 😋) 💻Bring some type of entertainment for the kids so they don’t get bored during the pre-parade wait. 🎈The night before the parade be sure to visit the balloon inflation event. You can watch the balloons being inflated and prepped for the parade (and you’ll be unbelievably close to these massive icons). 🍽Be sure to make a reservation for lunch after…most restaurants tend to book up early. #macysthanksgivingparade #christmasnyc2022 #thanksgivingparademaycs #familytraveltip
