GORILLAZ - « Feel Good Inc. » That laugh at the start of "Feel Good Inc."? It's not a joke. It's the villain. 🏙️ The whole song is built on one image: a tower, and a windmill. The tower is the machine. Advertising, entertainment, industry — a place that manufactures happiness and sells it back to you. De La Soul's verse is the tower talking: fast, slick, confident, the voice of the thing selling you the product. Party forever. Don't stop. Don't think. Then 2D's chorus comes in, and it's exhausted. Sung from somewhere far away. He's not describing the tower — he's describing a windmill on a floating island, green, turning on its own, powered by nothing but wind. No factory. No sales pitch. That's the argument. Manufactured joy on one side, something real and small and self-sustaining on the other. And the singer is trapped in the first one, looking at the second. A company called "Feel Good Inc." — read the name again. Happiness with a legal entity attached. 💀 The song's not anti-fun. It's asking who's profiting from yours.
