@od_form: started with a fail, but here’s how to make perfect dowels: first, drill halfway through the wood with the larger drill bit. then, without moving either the drill press or the wood, switch to the smaller drill bit and drill all the way through. the smaller bit should match the final size of the dowel. next, clamp a chisel or plane blade over the gap. move the edge of the tool around until you find the exact spot. i find i get better results if i pre-rout the wood sticks very close to the final dimensions, so there’s less material to remove with the jig. straight grain makes them more durable . . #woodworking #DIY #doweljig #woodcraft
