Miraculous iPhone 12 Repair: From Six Months of Failure to Full Restoration A fan from New York reached out to us with an iPhone 12 that hadn't been fixed despite half a year of repair attempts. The phone belonged to his wife and had suddenly stopped turning on without any prior issues. When they took it to the official after-sales service, they were told the motherboard needed replacing - a costly fix that would also result in losing all their valuable data. Unwilling to accept this, they sought help from a known technician at the service center, who suggested finding someone else to repair it. Unfortunately, this led to a six-month ordeal with no success. Recently, the fan stumbled upon a video of me and Master Tony repairing phones. Remembering the unresolved issue with his iPhone 12, he retrieved it and sent it over to us, hoping that Master Tony's expertise could bring it back to life. Upon opening the device, we discovered that the shielding cover on the motherboard was loose and improperly soldered - it fell off with just a slight touch. We connected it to a power supply for testing and found that the motherboard was leaking electricity. Surprisingly, pressing the power button still lit up the screen, but once in the main interface, the touchscreen was unresponsive. Suspecting a screen issue, we replaced it with a known good screen, but the problem persisted, indicating a motherboard fault. Careful examination revealed solder bridging at a specific point responsible for touch power supply. The shielding cover stickers were peeled off, and excess solder paste suggested previous unsuccessful repair attempts. After correcting the solder bridge, we reassembled the phone, and the touch function returned to normal. However, the Wi-Fi wasn't working, and there was no baseband firmware, meaning the phone couldn't make calls or access the internet. Knowing that the iPhone 12 has a dual-layer motherboard - with Wi-Fi and signal handled by the lower layer - we separated the layers using a heating platform. We found that the baseband chip had been previously tampered with. Repairing such a device truly depends on luck. We addressed the motherboard's leakage by replacing a faulty charging IC identified through thermal imaging. After reassembling, the motherboard no longer leaked electricity, but the baseband and Wi-Fi issues remained. Suspecting misalignment between the motherboard layers, we re-balled the solder and reattached them. We activated the depleted battery and tested the device again. This time, Wi-Fi could be turned on, but the baseband component was still missing. Without a functioning baseband, the phone couldn't make or receive calls. Undeterred, we disassembled the motherboard again and found under a microscope that the baseband code chip had a broken corner. This chip is like a key to enabling the baseband function - encrypted and irreplaceable. If damaged, the phone becomes nothing more than a game console. We removed the tampered baseband chip, cleaned the pads, and tested it on a code chip tester, but it couldn't be recognized. It seemed all hope was lost. In a last-ditch effort, we reset the baseband CPU, reinstalled it, and reassembled the motherboard layers. Upon booting up, a

In a last-ditch effort, we reset the baseband CPU, reinstalled it, and reassembled the motherboard layers. Upon booting up, a "SIM card not installed" message popped up - a sign that the baseband was working! Checking the settings, we confirmed that Wi-Fi was operational and the baseband modem firmware appeared. Sometimes, luck plays a bigger role than skill. We then tested other functions like the camera, which worked perfectly. However, there was no sound from the earpiece during calls. After discovering the earpiece had been previously replaced - common with iPhone 12 devices due to a high failure rate - we installed a known good earpiece. Finally, the phone was fully functional. To wrap up, we re-soldered the missing shielding covers, applied new stickers, and gave the phone a thorough cleaning. The repair was complete. Repairing phones, especially second-hand ones,
