it's not a force, it's an appeal. it's not the base umpire's appeal, the base umpire would be judging safe out. it is the plate umpire's call for the appeal.

A fellow umpire once told me this is an automatic appeal. Runner should’ve been called out. Blue missed it. The mechanics on this base umpire has the catch plate has the tag up.

I love your attitude towards amateur officials. It’s hard mistakes happen, sometimes the mistakes are very bad. FYI, this is the plate umpire’s call in two man, and sometimes even in 3/4 man.

My guy you have to stop trying to explain rules. A force is not a method of retiring a runner. It is a condition on a runner to vacate by means of batter becoming a runner. This is not a force.

Poor umpire mechanics. Field umpire should be watching the catch. Plate umpire watches the tag up. The field umpire should not be making this call.
