This is why I Divorced my 9-5 👋🏾 when I was working in a career that I disliked 👎🏽 This was honestly one of the most challenging times in my life. I was working as a Graphic Designer in a 9-5 at a company that was toxic AF and literally dreaded going into work every day. It wasn’t exactly the job that I hated it, I kind of enjoyed designing but I also knew it wasn’t what I was meant to be doing I didn’t have the passion for it. At the time I had no idea what was going on with me, I knew I felt overwhelmed, low energy and that I disliked my work place but I didn’t realise it was the reason why I felt all of the above or that it was affecting my whole life. Now on reflection I see it was the root cause. If I could go back in time here are the steps I would of taken to have helped overcome the severe overwhelm I was struggling with 👇🏽 1. Identify Root Causes: Take a step back to identify specific aspects of the job that are causing the overwhelm. Is it the workload, the environment, or something else? 2. Set Boundaries: Establish clear boundaries between work and personal life to prevent stress from seeping into personal time. Set specific work hours & stick to them, block out time for activities you enjoy outside of work. 3. Focus on What You Can Control: Acknowledge the aspects of your job that are within your control and focus your energy on those. Including goal setting, prioritising tasks, or seeking opportunities for skill development. 4. Explore Options: Look for a new job, transition to a different role within the company, or look into further education or training to shift career paths. 5. Seek Support: make sure you reach out for support from friends, family, or a therapist. Talking through your feelings and concerns with someone you trust can give valuable perspective and emotional support. 6. Practice Self Care: Prioritise self care such as exercise, mindfulness, hobbies, or spending time with loved ones. 7. Break Tasks into Manageable Steps: Break down big tasks into bite size tasks. Focus on tackling one thing at a time, celebrating each win along the way.Remember you are not alone.
