My pop was told by his grandmother to never let anyone know he was Native so he wouldn't be taken. He didn't tell anyone until he was in his 70s.

My mom was adopted out of kenora Ontario . By immigrants and they moved her to holland. For ten years . She was 15 months old . They only spoke Dutch. When my mom returned to Canada when she was 11.

I never got to know my Creek Granmother & I very much blame the trauma of residential school. It kills my heart for her and for the culture and family I never got to know.
