I think also, for me, a big part of it is that the traits which bother me are a direct result of the traumatic experience of going through years of having the wrong hormone in my body.

It was a wonderful point in my transition where I could wake up, having done nothing else, and look like me. Brain gave a 👍. All else was gravy 🥰

Very true! There can be a tipping point though where those “feeling good” thoughts mix in with the “look like” thoughts, and can eventually take over. My mirror dysphoria is becoming less frequent

This is very true. As a trans woman I felt that way for several years earlier in my transition. The biggest thing is to accept ourselves. We have a vision in our head on how we should look. ❤️

This is why I almost never look at a mirror or fuss over myself. I would like to get FFS when I'm able but the idea of going from a face that looks like me to a different face when I'm not done up🫠💀

That's definitely a valid distinction and I didn't mean to imply that our experience as CIS women is the same as that of trans woman. But as Harper notes throughout the movie, self-acceptance is even harder to achieve than being accepted by society, and that struck me as particularly sad.

For the first 3 years, I felt the same as Brooke. ln the mirror as I head to the shower, there's always one glaring flaw. Since my surgery in June, Myself is always there. Not perfect, just me.

Yeah, that's pretty spot-on. It's a pretty common phenomenon with trans women - even before we have ANY idea - to dislike even good photos of us.

This is so true, and it does take some thinking through for cis women. My trans love feels the way Brooke does. To me, she’s beautiful and herself no matter what she wears, but it’s different for her.
