If you “prove it’s 50/50” by first assuming it’s 50/50, isn’t that begging the question? 😫

I don't get your room-sized computer postulation; what if the computer is outside of our observable universe? Then it wouldn't have to simulate itself.

Lili Zoey :
your argument about the situated computer is flawed. you can perfectly simulate a computer using the same computer, you'd just have to run the simulation slower.

also, it really doesn’t matter if we live in a simulation. it’s all very real to us

What makes a computer unable to simulate itself? If the simulation was running much slower than "realtime", the "perception" in that simulation would also be slowed, so infinite computation wouldn't..

Depends of what your definition of simulation is, but the universe is nothing like the way we perceive it to be.

(1) I'm a believer in the simulation theory, though only under the basis of the simulation has rules to not be incursive. IF it is possible to have 1 perfect simulation, then statistically it's 50/50

I must protest at the logic here a little. our inability to create a universal simulation does not inherently falsify the simulation theory from being true. we can't prove or disprove yet.

I am confused on you saying that we can never simulate a universe like ours? Are you saying that because our universe is likely infinite? Bc most scientists I’ve seen say theoretically simulating real

Came from other vid, thought it was funny. I have a question. You said the hypothetical comp needs to be perfect. people claim to have experienced “glitches,” if true, is that an imperfection? 1/2

I love Griffiths Intro to QM. It’s a hilariously written text book. A genuinely good read for what can be a dry subject.

a simulation doesn't have to simulate perfectly, it just has to be less complex than the computer simulating it, logically. it just needs to simulate "good enough" for us not to be able to tell.
