As a piercer, smaller gauge jewelry is likely to get caught as rip or move partially on its own because the pressure on the small surface area of the jewelry will make it migrate causing a slit

It’s because you just took it out. After having the jewelry out it will look smaller and over time it will probably close or become unnoticeable
