my mil never asks me any questions or if she does and I'm answering - she will cut me off mid answer to link to it to herself and her experiences. so I never end up answering any of her questions.

Her perception was that she was forced to “step aside” when I and my daughter came along. She views me as a threat to her and her daughter so she puts me down.
