Local tales say that it appears only to those pure of heart, with hooves that leave no tracks yet thunder in the ears, as if rumbling from the soil itself. This horse is a bridge between worlds, a totem of power and mystery. The tales are as timeless as the Carpathian mountains themselves. Unlike mortal horses, calul năzdrăvan is said to have the power to shapeshift and vanish, appearing to aid travelers lost in treacherous forests or warning villagers of approaching misfortune. Some say it has eyes that reflect the depths of night skies, capable of reading the souls of those who seek it. The most ancient stories suggest the giant horse carries a gift—or curse—for anyone it meets.
