The fact that AirBNB can't do the refund because they CAN'T CONTACT THE HOST. The host of the property might be out there 💀 or seriously hurt, but yeah sure how dare she not get her refund.

I don’t think she was trying to discredit the seriousness of the situation. I think it was to highlight the absurdity of not being refunded and someone assuming she would still be visiting in that state

She got a full refund. I may not agree with her methods but she deserved a refund. She was going against Airbnb not the owner. I’d ask for the same thing from a hotel in this situation

I’ve been in that situation. We hired a campervan & brought clean up supplies & went & helped the community clean up. Most rewarding holiday. Kids learnt a lot out of it too

It should be automatically refunded. I feel bad for everyone involved. She is losing a huge deposit and the poor host god knows what's going on. AirBnB should in good faith take the hit and refund.

My family is in Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. My uncle watched his business, home, and everything he owned be washed away. Citizens were airlifted out but he decided to return and help Search & Rescue.

I mean she wasn’t saying that she was going to lose a deposit she was saying you wasn’t getting refunded at all. I think she deserves the refund. Money is tight for all of us we shouldn’t judge.
