@stjuderesearch: Our St. Jude nurse residents recently competed in the annual Great Nurse Residency Race! Through the Great Nurse Residency Race, nurse residents are immersed in the St. Jude culture as they navigate campus challenges, face metaphorical roadblocks, detours, and speed bumps designed to test their critical thinking, medical assessment, communication, and teamwork skills. The Nursing Program develops these unique activities to assist in continuous education. After matching to their hospital units, the nurses begin individualized clinical orientation alongside experienced preceptors, learning the critical skills needed to care for St. Jude patients. In addition to hands-on experiences such as the race, residents attend monthly Nurse Residency Program (NRP) sessions featuring simulation exercises, and activities designed to support their transition.
