My family and I were able to leave our home in Mitchell County NC after a few days but it is devastating. The mule teams are volunteering to help in places and it’s incredible of them.

I’m in NC, it’s BAD. We needed helicopters & we are hearing that they turned pilots away. Even turned away some trying to give aid in search and rescue.

Where i am in Missouri we got the very edge of the tail winds so we had high winds we are using mules for tree removal so the company’s could get to those worse off

also Helene hit Florida as a Cat 4, that's already bad. as it went through the Old mountains they experienced tropical rains (torrential downpours).

Here in Western NC mules and draft horses are still used for logging in hard to reach areas. They can haul two hundred lbs and can get to places four wheelers can’t.

We didn’t just start using them. These little guys are tough and have actually dug most of our roads. That’s why the blue ridge park way was a curvy road.
