If my husband and I get into a disagreement on front of the kids, we work it out in front of them. For this reason exactly.

Me realizing we have absolutely never explained how we have resolved fights to our kids 😳

Dax is great at demonstrating how to heal yourself and breaking generational cycles. I love listening to him talk. He’s so observant and he’s always willing to learn how to be better.

I tell my kids it’s kinda like shopping at a store under construction. Nothing’s ending, everything is functional, but “pardon our dust” while we grow.

If we argue in front of the kids, we resolve it in front of them. They need to know conflict is normal and they need to witness communication and resolution too.

I was just telling my mom how much I appreciated seeing the resolve of conflict with dad. The things we absorb can define how we treat others

My ex husband thought his parents never fought because they only did it behind closed doors

Wow, I JUST explained this to my mom. She got defensive and said that they always talked it over together after. But we never saw that part.

Everyone says “its terrible and traumatizing to see parents fight”. Well not all fights are healthy/safe! But as long as they see us fix things and the healing process. Its a learning moment.

That’s exactly how I feel- always saw my parents fight and never saw them make up, so now I have a hard time with the apology part
