Because he doesnt have a soul, he has a moral compass deficiency, which is what is believed to be the case with soulless people; they lack the basic understanding of right and wrong. And this comical conversation is that discussion where Sam & Dean simplifies it to having a soul equals suffering. And the reason this is the conclusion is because a soul’s purpose or journey is towards growth and enlightenment which is often times sufferable experiences in this physical world. Gnosticism and Hermeticism suggest that the material world is full of trials that challenges the soul. These struggles are opportunites for spiritual transformation, helping individuals transcend lower states of consciousness and align with higher spiritual truths. Suffering is a catalyst for shedding ego attachments, karmic debts and illusions to reach higher states of awareness and purpose.
