I'm happy lane filtering is legal in my state but not splitting. I see you supporting splitting in the comments, is it safe? genuinely asking because it seems dangerous to me compared to filtering, which is factually safer for riders.

In Australia filtering is splitting at any speed lower than 40 km/h which is legal

I think lane filtering should be legal but lane splitting should have a speed limit, if you can safely split at like 40 mph sure, but not when traffic is going fast, but I've also never ridden so 1/2

For those in victoria, Australia, that don’t know the difference… if under 30km/h it’s lane filtering and legal. If over 30km/h it’s lane splitting an illegal.

In NZ it’s legal. Also when there is no traffic in a lane like there was as you were filtering to the front, pull back into the lane. Lots of people quickly pull out of their lane to swap.

Lane splitting seems very risky considering you don’t know how much each person steps on the accelerator and if they even see you. These are both critical factors in car accidents.
