@gardenwithjonny: It’s time to start thinking about your spring garden, but when should you plant your bulbs? 🤔 For most spring-flowering bulbs like daffodils, crocuses, and hyacinths, the best time to plant is September to November, when the soil starts to cool. But hold off on your tulips! 🌷 Unlike other bulbs, tulips should be planted later in autumn, or like me the first few weeks in December, when the soil is colder. Planting them too early in warm soil can lead to tulip fire (Botrytis tulipae), a nasty fungus that causes brown spots, distorted growth, and even bulb rot. 😬 When planting, make sure your bulbs are placed at the right depth – usually 2 to 3 times the height of the bulb. Always plant with the pointy side up and give them a good soak to help roots establish before winter. By planting at the right time and giving your bulbs the care they need, you’ll set your garden up for a beautiful spring display! 🌼 #SpringBulbs #GardeningUK #BulbPlanting #GardeningLife
