@divasunglasses: Replying to @SeeGreen.Life this is a bad strategy that feels like its main motivation is punishing democrats rather than actually achieving progressive goals
Extremist republicans pulled the Republican Party further right not by NOT voting. They did it by voting down the ballot in every single election and in every single primary….

not only do you have to vote for the party you want to influence you have to vote in every primary.

hey, this isn't really related, but what are your thoughts on Prop 33? I've seen a lot of conflicting information on if it will actually be helpful or not

I find it weird that these leftists would rather have a progressive party vs the Republicans than a progressive party vs democrats.
Why threaten to vote out the party closest to your goals?

Leftists voting like they live in the country they wish for rather than the country that actually exists has caused us so much unnecessary strife.

Maybe I’ve just been thinking about it a lot, but this reminds me of the power broker where Robert Carroll talks about big sweeping fast change is only possible through singular authority. That democracy is slow kind of by necessity and these leftists don’t know that what they advocate for is authoritarian.

The way to push the parties left is to shut down the far right. If the GOP stops winning anything, they’ll have to change or just never be in power. As they go more center, dems will have to push left

that doesn't work if moving left loses them the most centrist 5 percent to the libertarians or Republicans either?

Candidates are chosen by voters in the primaries. If most democratic voters nominate a moderate, that moderate is going to know that most of the base is moderate.

Most of these leftists don’t participate in elections because they feel intellectually superior but want a good amount of us to join them. Extremism is not a winning strategy. Just look at MAGA.

Evangelicals got Roe overturned by voting in every election and running their own candidates for 50 years. They made themselves indispensable to the GOP and now they get to dictate GOP policy

The original comment must be the dumbest take ever. Why in the world would making the Dems lose every election move them left. It would move them center to pick up more moderates 😂😂😂

If a leftist doesn't vote, it loses the party 1 vote. If a centrist swaps their vote from democrat to republican, it loses the party 2 votes. There would have to be twice as many leftists as centrists

Yes, and the meantime Republicans would continue to rip rights away. Roe is gone, in part, b/c of the protest vote against Clinton.

The labor unions used to motivate and deliver the left vote. Destroying the unions left a vacuum. And the Dems failed until they went for Clinton centrist strat.

Wait pause, idk the exact numbers but I know more than 1-2 percent of voters disagree w democrats on Palestine. Thats a huge issue (a literal genocide we r funding lmao doesn’t get bigger than that) that SHOULD warrant extreme actions like that comment describes. I kinda agree w the take that this year is different cause trump but let’s be real, the Democratic Party is not aligned w their voters on MAJOR issues

If your goal is to implement left policies, then not voting blue produces right wing policies and Dems move right in order to recapture the center. How does that achieve the desired goal here?
