It’s half true. It did increase your takehome pay, but at the expense of the deductions you’d get when you file. My take home increase, but my tax refund has been non-existent since 2018, and I’ve owed most years

Yes, the only thing it did was increase take-home pay but then if you don’t get a separate deduction taken out, you end up owing taxes

All it did for me was give me more at payday and barely pay enough to cover my taxes. Making me fear owing when I file. My refund has been maybe $50 for the past few years.

My take home pay didn't change and I went from a $3,000 return to a $1,500 tax bill claiming zero deductions. Our child tax credit just goes back to paying our taxes.
