In many cases, when I test lab grown diamonds, it shows as moissanite. That's because these old testers rely on outdated electrical conductivity technology. Back in the day, moissanite were generally more conductive than diamonds, so testers identified high connectivity as moissanite. But times have changed. Many modern moissanite are less conductive, while many lab grown diamonds are more conductive. This is due to the inclusion of boron during the high pressure, high temperature process of lab grown diamonds. As a result, traditional testers give false readings, making them practically useless. A much more reliable tester is one that uses UV light technology like the OTi by Presidium. It accurately identifies moissanite natural diamonds and lab grown diamonds.
