Dryers have controls that work on 120 and the heater and motor are 240. That’s why a afci will never work. Afci for 120 circuits in bedrooms whatever. Absolutely ridiculous for an appliance or hvac equipment.

That Ain't Right :
It's a GFCI breaker, Not AFCI

dryer cord has the neutral ans ground tied together. causes the new breakers to trip constantly. appliance guys don't separate them.

Being an electrician for years. AFCI breakers wasn’t such a thing. Keep that breaker there and forget that AFCI BREAKER!

the new 2023 code states 210.8 that the dryer should be gfi protected not afci/gfi.

changing to ACFI BREAKER DOESN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM, MAYBE A BAD BREAKER, BAD CONNECTION ETC.

A FEW things I see! The dryer cord is hooked up wrong because he/she has the ground bonded with the common wire.

user2161990402905 :
They ran a 2 wire instead of a 3 which the neutral and ground are sharing, won’t work on a afci

AFCI has problems with motors last I checked. Motors mimic an arc fault. So not using them for specific machines should not be a problem. I’m sure they checked for a real arc fault first.

As an ahj, we amend the electrical code and remove requirements for larger appliance to have AFCI or GFCI

kitchen remodel called for CFCI breaker on fridge. Sub Zero fridge tripped it every 2 months. client had to replace food twice. Sub Zero fridge manual says to NOT put it on GFCI. SMH

Those breakers are trash! After th CO has been issued, rip them all out and replace with normal breakers!! Just my professional opinion

Easiest fix to this problem that actually keeps the gfci protection is to install Siemens, not that garbage Eaton.
