The ad is also a bad analogy. Pirating movies is not like stealing a car, it's more like making a bunch of free copies of someone's car, and in doing so decreasing the car's resale value.

It's a terrible comparison. Stealing a physical item deprives the owner of that thing, pirating files doesn't.
