I don’t understand the 40-45 year old age limit on this test! Why are we taught to do self exams from an early age and then told “nah, you don’t need to worry, you’re not old enough to get it checked”

I needed a mammogram, went to my Dr. Because if you’re under 51 you need a referral. Got the referral, waited 3 months for a mammogram and when I went to my appt they gave me an ultrasound instead.
