Educational post 🔐 Starting out in aesthetics? Or looking to master your lips? Here is something I wish I mastered first.. DEPTH. Getting your needle within the right depth of the lip will ensure that the filler is spread seamlessly within the same layer of tissue creating a smooth, flat and crisp finish to the lips! TOP TIP: Lift the needle up when inside the lips to check the depth before pushing the filler out of the syringe. Generally, you’re looking for an outline of the needle and no colour. If you can see the colour of the needle you’re likely to be too superficial in the lips and can cause a Tyndall Effect. If you can’t see the outline of the needle you’re likely too deep - this is problematic mainly because a lot of arteries and smaller vessels are located at this depth and you increase your risk of complications. Also, by being too deep you get less traction in the lips as you’re away from connective tissue meaning a less control of shaping and manipulation. PLEASE NOTE: These are general guidelines and the depth required within each clients lip may vary due to tissue pockets, scar tissue and other factors.
