🍅 If you’re still using tomato cages, you need to try this. This is one of my favorite ways to grow indeterminate tomatoes, and it makes harvesting and plant care so much easier. 🌿 What is espalier? Espalier is the practice of training a plant to grow flat against a support instead of sprawling in every direction. While it’s traditionally used for fruit trees, it works amazingly well for tomatoes too. 🍅 What are indeterminate tomatoes? Indeterminate tomatoes keep growing, flowering, and producing fruit all season long. Because they never really stop growing, they need strong support, making this method a perfect fit. I built this trellis using an inexpensive remesh paneland U-posts from the hardware store. It’s sturdy, easy to set up, and works beautifully in a raised garden bed. ✨ Why you’ll love this method: ✔️ Harvest tomatoes without dragging out a ladder. ✔️ Makes pruning, tying, and general plant care mucheasier. ✔️ Improves airflow and light exposure. ✔️ Keeps plants organized and saves space. ✔️ Supports multiple crops at once. I’m growing Sungold tomatoes, which are a family favorite for their incredible sweet flavor. At the base of the trellis, I’m also growing cucumbers, so this setup is working double duty and making the most of the space. This is one of those simple garden hacks that makes life so much easier all season long. ✍️🍅 Tell me your favourite tomato varieties in the comments! I’m always looking to try something new. 🌸Erin
