It’s been four months since I first started losing my hair, and I finally hit a big breaking point yesterday. Alopecia has brought me some of my hardest days. There are days I can’t look at myself without crying, or wishing I had my own hair back. There are moments I feel so unfeminine, so unsexy and like I straight up like a boy depending on what I’m wearing. I hear the comments and questions from adults and the scared and shocked comments from kids, and have to let it roll off of me while standing right in front of them. But there are also so many days of loving myself for me, and not hiding who I am or feeling like I need to hide away parts of myself. I have found a community of loving, and supportive women who encourage and uplift each other. I’ve learned to express myself whole-heartedly, and share myself with the world instead of worrying if I look or sound silly or weird. My hair was taken - but my armor has grown and I find myself more resilient, more tough. I learned through the awkward stares, scared children, and uncomfy conversations that it really doesn’t matter if I have hair or not. People are going to judge, drift away, and do what they want to, so I might as well just be me and let them do what they want. Real beauty I know comes from within, and the beauty of this ordeal for me comes from the freeing feeling of being 100% myself. The confidence it has brought me is incomparable to anything I’ve felt before. I’ve challenged my own beauty standards, re-found a love of fashion and beauty, and pushed myself out of my comfort zone in all aspects of life. I feel empowered and I want to keep sharing my story and fostering the relationships that it brings me, in hopes that it inspires others going through anything similar. So yes - this has brought me some of my hardest and darkest days, but it also inspires me everyday to keep pushing. Thank you to everyone that supports me and makes me feel comfortable being me - it means the world. 💌 • • • #alopeciaawareness #alopecia #alopeciauniversalis #alopeciasupport #myalopeciastory #myjourney #confidence #selfconfidence #selflove #mystory #growthmindset #CapCut
