@dr.matthewnagra: The listeria outbreak linked to plant-based milks is terrible, and was linked to a Danone production facility. There was likely contamination somewhere along the production line. This is not the same as dairy where even “healthy” animals can harbour pathogens, but it’s unacceptable, nonetheless. Regarding raw milk, they’re dishonest in how they presented the stats. They only provided stats for Salmonella and ignored other pathogens, including Campylobacter, for which unpasteurized milk was linked to 1401 cases with only 177 for vegetables. But there are more issues with these stats. For one, very few people consume raw milk today. Prior to pasteurization, milk was responsible for about 25% of all food/waterborne illnesses, and after pasteurization, that dropped to 1%. Also, in states where it’s legal to sell raw milk, they have over 3x the number of outbreaks as other states. So even if pasteurized milk is responsible for more overall infections than raw milk, that doesn’t mean raw milk is safer. When we consider how infrequent raw milk consumption is, and conduct a proper analysis, we see that the risk of infection is about 150x greater with raw milk versus pasteurized. Some of the complications of infection can also be quite severe! Finally, fruits/veg don’t inherently contain these pathogens, but can become contaminated by animal feces through irrigation water, for example. In fact, proximity to animal ag is a risk factor for contamination, so ironically, animal ag may be responsible for many of the infections from “plants.” References: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-listeria-outbreak-linked-to-plant-based-milks-appears-to-be-slowing/ https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s44197-024-00216-6 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4890836/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36280604/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3309640/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27836846/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37421315/ #rawmilk #rawdairy #pasteurized #nutrition #milk #dairyisscary #plantmilk #soymilk #plantbasedmilk #milkalternative #almondmilk #vegan #vegetarian #ancestral #carnivore #foodpyramid #keto #fatloss #weightloss

I bought farm fresh eggs, washed them and ended up getting campylobacter. I always wash my fruits & vegetables in baking soda, vinegar & a little soap. All farm fields have rodents & other animals in

Neighboring feedlots? That’s why romaine is so dangerous when bagged. They spray the feces over the fields to fertilize.
