My MIL would say "you always make life harder for yourself Lisa" (I baked special Italian Christmas cookies every year for this widower, my childhood neighbor) When he died his son (who I barely knew) told me his father looked forward to that all year long so he could host friends w/homemade Pizelles. I never knew he did that. I cried like a baby!

We just moved and I’ve stayed in touch with our neighbor. I checked in on his senior dog today and he said he’s struggling to eat. So naturally I made him some homemade food from what I have at home.
