in the uk if you work in retail and you're on the tills we most likely have a stool to sit on every job i've had in retail i've had a stool i think it depends on the place tho tbh

like why arent cashiers in america sitting on a chair ? there no reason why someone scanning items at a register has to do it standing up

i think its this weird relationship the us has with "respect" towards the customer. in europe cashiers sit down and a server will not introduce themselves with their name and be over the top friendly

It's an US thing, cashiers have a seat here in the Netherlands. Maybe some protestant remnants of the colonizers
