Bought a house, paid cards off and went all cash for years. Ruined our score and removed all prior history of good credit. Had to get cards again to fix it.

I've lived in Europe the US and UK. In France credit scores do not exist, they're actually ignored entirely by banks mortgage companies and credit card companies.

I’ve never missed a bill payment in my life. I paid off my line of credit and my credit card last month and my score suddenly dropped by 5 points. I give up.

all of this is true, but these types of hit seem to be very temporary, particularly if you continue to use credit cards and/or finance other purchases, like home repairs or a car purchase.

I’ve NEVER paid annual fee and my rate WAS less than 12-15% but now everyone of them are at 28.% or higher and I’ve NEVER missed a payment and pay extra and they won’t do anything to help.

Credit cards get so many people in trouble and have this mindset oh I’ll pay it but continue to use it to the point they our crippled with only paying the interest. One card and pay every month.😏

I'm in Canada, and have only recently realized the same thing. it's brainwashing to get you to buy rrsps, pay interest, get a mortgage, etc. keep us in debt, make us think it's a good thing

When I got a windfall I paid off all of my credit cards and closed out a couple of accounts. Definitely took a hit on my FICO for that but was still able to qualify for a mortgage on my own.

Don’t cancel! Call them & ask them to waive the fee cuz you’ve been there so long or ask for a discount on your % rate. Cut card & don’t use it! I call once a year..got my % to 9%🎉🎉

That is why we don’t have big credit cards because we did get in debt doing that. When we paid all them off we canceled all our credit cards, we were able to still finance our two daughters cars they make their payments regular, it not only helps to build ours it builds theirs. Credit cards are not a good thing to have I use my checking ,debit, or cash don’t need anything that causes debt!

If your credit scores are low your vehicle insurance may be higher. I’ve stopped looking, I was becoming obsessed and depressed 😤.

I learned this the hard way when I started closing all of my store cards I got when I was in my early twenties and then my credit score bottomed out. It took me 10 years to recover!
