Oh we have that. It’s sometimes in a room, or sometimes in a more public space. We make it look nice too-tablecloths, flowers, etc.

great idea. Our temple President sent an email: he’d rather ppl who eat do it off temple ground on YK, and I was OUTRAGED. Wife diabetic, cantor is pregnant, and I have POTS are we not welcome?

I like this. I fall into that category. My baseline is basic needs most days. Last year I chugged an Ensure and sipped on water.

My Rabbi is very explicit during services about not fasting if it will harm you. Your idea takes it to a new level. I love it!

Fantastic idea! My Mother used to sit on the parking lot and eat a snack because she was diabetic. On the other hand, it is not for us to judge what others do, especially on Yom Kippur.

This is such an incredible idea. Let's remove the possible shame around caring for these God-given bodies.

Genuine Q- why does it matter if someone is perceiving u as violating a commandment as long as u & God both know that’s not the case? (As always- No judgment! Just genuinely curious!)

I am in the process of getting diagnosed with POTS since it started when I was 13, abt 14 yrs ago. Every time I've tried to fast it has been excruciating and causes me to feel horrible for a week /1

adore this idea. in my view, it would be a mitzvah for both the person eating, and the one(s) providing for those commanded to eat 💙

My shul does this and it is such a comfort. No one wants to eat in the bathroom which is often the only place to go.

Great thought. My first YK in my conversion, and I too can’t fast. To help me feel connected I’m doing meal replacement shakes. Feels less like food

This is a beautiful idea. The first year I didn’t fast (gestational diabetes and 32 weeks pregnant), I had to go out to my car to eat.

My shul does this! I also usually volunteer so I can help keep those who are fasting safe and give them juice or whatever if they get lightheaded.

I typically find most people who do eat will tend to help out with the kids services or section during lunch. They will help give the food out to the kids and then themselves.
