When I did my 4th step resentments, I had 3 lines on my dad and 4 pages on my mom. My sponsor said, “Sometimes it’s only safe to be angry at one parent at a time.” Took a while, but I got there.

I have so much sympathy for my Mum. I was also pissed at her for years until she took accountability. I have empathy for my dad, and I remain furious as he continues to deny responsibility.

100% just like I can be mad for the trauma my mom caused while still being proud of the cycles she broke and also empathize that had she had info to do better she would have. Nothing is black & white
