Make these easy but impressive rice paper blooms for Valentine’s, Galentine’s or as a garnish for your next dinner party! You can also eat them on their own as chips! I cut the rice paper down to size. You’ll need one bigger circle and one smaller one for reach flower. Then you’ll want to create the petals by cutting slits into your rice paper, I find that it looks best when you make eight cuts. Layer the bigger rice paper circle on top of the smaller rice paper circle by using dyed cooked rice. You can use turmeric and plum powder to flavour and colour your rice but I used food colouring to achieve the colour. Next, heat up your pot of oil. Test your oil to see if it’s hot enough by placing a piece of rice paper in. It should puff up immediately when it’s ready. Then carefully place your rice paper flower into the hot oil. They should bloom right before your eyes! Ladel them out of the oil and set aside to cool and drain. Feel free to use as a garnish for your meals or to eat them on their own as chips.
