PR1 isn’t just the most famous hike in Madeira — in my opinion, it’s one of the most spectacular hikes on the planet. After being closed for over 1.5 years due to the August 2024 wildfires, the complete PR1 trail finally reopened on May 1st. Since then, demand has exploded. At the moment, the full route is only accessible from Friday to Sunday, and official booking slots are often sold out weeks ahead.
