@getawayswithmarta: Here’s your mini guide to visiting the Museu Nacional do Azulejo in Lisbon 👇🏻 🎨 Museu Nacional do Azulejo is one of Portugal’s most important museums, not only for its unique collection of tiles (azulejos) but also for its location inside the former Madre de Deus Monastery. 🎨 You can visit the museum from Tuesday to Sunday, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. 🎨 Be sure to check if it’s open on public holidays. 🎨 The entrance fee is 8 euros, but Portuguese citizens and residents can enter for free on Sundays. 🎨 Museu Nacional do Azulejo is located at Rua da Madre de Deus nº4, slightly away from the typical tourist spots. However, it's easily accessible via Bus 759 from Praça do Comércio. 🎨 There are tile painting workshops every Sunday at 11:30 a.m., where you can create your own tile! Just make sure to email in advance: [email protected] 🎨 If you understand Portuguese, don’t miss the free guided tours of the museum and the Madre de Deus Convent, offered every first and third Sunday of the month. Pre-book via the same email address. 💓 Our favorite part? The stunning church inside! The Madre de Deus Church is a shining example of Portuguese baroque decor, with ornate gold and wood carvings, paintings, and gorgeous tile panels.
