As a vet student this is true but only cause if vets think you dont care about the animal theyll offer you the minimum to not scare you off and hopefully get the animal as much help as they can give

People always complain that vets take advantage of them but It’s the same people that will call in day or two saying, “you misdiagnosed my pet because we did diagnostics somewhere else.” 🙃

Paid a little over $1k out of pocket for my dog to get examined, x-rays, and to get a enema and I was like 20 spending literally all I had. They threw in free ear cleanings and trimmed her claws.

My vet told me my cat had FIV (feline aids pretty much), but they did it in the office. Told me it would be 300 plus to send it to a lab. Went to another vet. 139 later they did an exam and blood work

I worked at a vet clinic. The number they give you is what it would take to fully, knowingly treat your dog. They want to do that because it is what needs to be done, they’re not tacking on nail cuts-

I go in, ask how much it costs to put it down, then say “what can I do cheaper than that, it’s it’s more put it down” they ALWAYS magically find someone cheaper that fixes the problem, thousands saved
