an exposed charcoal holds more moisture inside since its was always exposed than a regular charcoal use for cooking that needs to kept in dry place...

<-Architect: Fire resistant = difficult to ignite. Charring burns off the easily combustible components. What’s left requires higher temps and longer exposure to ignite (vs untreated wood).
