What's the point in banning every innovative part design. To many rules a regulations. F1 is a sport of innovation and design and gaining a step ahead of the competition.

given they were far from fastest in later raves behind cars without the DD this isn't really the reason.. it was more the front wing oitwash helping seal floor edge

But then RB basically did a version of it because of the loophole in the updated rules and were allowed to run with it for years. Again others caught up but RB mounted a crazy tech race lead

And it took a long time for the FIA to make judgement to redeem it legal or not..and Brawn takes the opportunity to make a large gap..yeah.. FIA basically gives them a helping hand..
