I love how they ALWAYS leave out the "net worth of $100M" part. I really wish I had that down payment assistance when I bought my house a couple years ago

my mom is voting against this... she's not in the bracket it affects. she's practically voting for her own taxes to go up without realizing it. I am so disappointed.

I mean you do get taxed more based on how much your home value goes up but it's not unrealized gains tax. and I don't trust the first time home buyer grants anymore. they will have to pay that 25,000

I don’t understand how these people are allowed to flat out lie. They need to be called out and suspended on the first offense and stricter punishment after that

But isn’t the gain tax for 100 million or more. So if what she says is right thennnnnnnnnn you still won’t qualify with a house that worth 150k

serious question. I think there's a fair slippery slope argument to be made that while initially this tax would only apply to those Worth over 100 million, much like the retirement age, 1/2

For fucks sake :
So explain how if you’re invested in a fund that has a over $100 million in assets will you be taxed even though you don’t own the whole fund?

Chris :
technically increased property values already get taxed in the form of increased property taxes. when i bought my house i paid 1.4k monthly in mortgage, now i pay 2k monthly due to tax increases

my sister's husband thought our inheritence would be affected by this and we'd have to pay 44% on it... the house isn't even selling for a mil much less any of us making that much yearly 💀

Yeah, it’s crazy scary that she’s an elected leader not knowing there’s a huge difference between equity in physical assets versus unrealized gains for stocks.

Apparently the property values in Nevada start cheap but skyrocket once theyre purchased. I’d love it if my house was worth 200% of what I paid for it
