Olympics held twice there at Lake Placid and Whiteface Mt. I hiked top to bottom of that mountain one day at age 13.

Just a geological note: while the mountain peaks themselves are very young, the rocks themselves formed during the Grenville Orogeny ~1 billion years ago , so the rocks are super super old !!

i love just outside the adk park and I believe it's one of the most diverse and beautiful places in the planet. I love the Adirondacks

I have a great memory of waking up in a cabin next to a beautiful lake in the Adirondack mountains. great blue herons and loons everywhere and beautiful mist covering the lake in the mornings.
