there was an interview on the news and a lady applied for the $750 but was only given $300. she has no home, no power, nothing and she got $300? that won't even cover what was in the fridge.

750 is the standard initial payout to evacuate based on zone does not include the additional funding that they provide for the ongoing support. They’re two separate things.

What’s worse is the $750 that they are offering is only a loan. If the person that receives that money doesn’t repay it within a year, the government will cease their property

a lot of people don't qualify for that $750 and if you do qualify for it you have three years to pay it back or they can come and receive your your houses or any property you own

The funny thing is the fine print on the payout. It’s a loan. For those that have house insurance most likely will pay it back. The 750 the government gave you it is in the fine print.

Lived in Florida for 30 years of my life, plenty of hurricanes. From what I can remember to qualify for any types of payments you need to have almost literally lost everything. They won’t give anything to you for missing work, loss of food due to electricity, help with gas costs since you can’t work due to storm damages or power down. I this was not everyone’s experience but I was always JUST above the line for “assistance”. It’s ridiculous. I fully believe there needs to be more funding for natural disasters in our country because dang near every year FEMA is “out of funds”. Clearly you need to increase the budget for it!!!!

I was not approved for 2 out of 3 categories with FEMA and they want a receipt for medication that was replaced. Replaced how with what $$$$ cause I dont have a 1,000$ for my insulin.

From what I understand is the bill they didn’t pass to fund more funds to fema was attached to more money for other countries and they wanted it as a single bill I could be wrong
