I’ve voted for more public transportation and we still don’t have it.

even the countries that have better public transportation would be overwhelmed by this if they would even run and if the people would use it, because getting out and taking the most important stuff is

new topic. price gouging airlines. to get out of Florida there are charging tickets of over $1,000 up to $3,000 for some flights. Is there any country flights typically only about $100 maybe 200 tops

How could public transportation remedy this? I’m sure all of those cars are filled with personal belongings. Where would they fit all of that on a bus or commuter train?

This. When evacuations become mandatory for whatever county, the state should be providing busses to pick up residents from a set pick up location to evaluate those who could not get gas/money/hotel

You are right. We are too car dependent. And a lot of us have been poisoned to public transportation

I do understand the intent behind this, but as someone living in Germany while more storms/floods are happening, trains will stop running. hell, they're often stopped bc of heavy rain

I'm legally blind and can't drive, I moved to a city with better weather for safety and public transportation but the flooding is getting worse & if an evac happened here I'd be trapped

💯 I’m glad somebody finally said it. We’re the richest country in the world. Why don’t we have what other smaller, less afluent countries have? Where did all that money go? 👀 #theydontcareaboutus

Im just thinking that public transit is not good enough when u r trying to pack up things that r most important to u and take them with u. people have luggage&animals that can’t fit on a bus or train

Public transportation yes but the sheer volume of belongings would’ve also cause extreme delays as well

Public transportation could never and can not handle evacuations of entire portions of the country. Trains and airplanes can’t transport that many belongings. So what other option would you propose?

i feel also that they should convert the other side of the highway to one way besides one lane because there’s no reason for traffic in and it doesn’t help that other states there going to already

We need trains desperately. Our rail system is so so far behind what it should be.
