What they have done is turn 1 into √1, (but √1 can be either 1 or -1) and through several steps, have turned the √1 into -1. So they’ve just turned 1 into -1 through roots

Easy bro it is just that the sqr of 1 it could be either +1 or -1 so here since we deal with real numbers I suppose. We should reject the -1 since it is not in the domain of real numbers. ☠️

Nothing that is to the power of 2 can be negative. The mistake is that it's supposed to be i = -1, leading to i² being (-1)² which is 1

See the problem with this is that you use bot a and b to refer to -1 which you can’t do since only one thing (here a) can represent one number.
